The group consists of the ex-keyboard and sound-designer of the famous French band Mano Negra: Darnal Thomas (guitars and vocals), Tomas Martinez (vocals), Danilo Garcia Despaigne (vocals), Jean Marc Labbé (saxophone), Philippe Mas (percussion), Silvano Matadin (bass) and Yaïté Ramos (flauta and vocals).
P18 formed in 1995 as a collaboration between former members of La Mano Negra, a Parisian DJ and a family of musicians from Cuba. The group expanded into a collective of 10 Cuban and French musicians who combine the musical traditions of Cuba with elements of house, drum & bass and Afro-Cuban roots music.
